Aye Aye matey, what we have here is another version of the classic pick three style, mind game, but this one has a twist. While playing it, You get to build, and customize, your very own pirates island. You get to spend plundered booty, to make your tiny island the envy of all of your pirate buddies. AND ITS FUN!
This game is genuinely fun. Not only is it a great variation to the classic pick three style games. It is laid out wonderfully. You play as an Unemployed pirate who has nothing to his name except an empty plot of island. And through a series of objective based match three boards, you Customize your island.
The objectives in this game however, are few, and Almost the same as other games in this genre. Match the colored tiles. But they have added a few of there own. Now you have to battle pirates, by matching them, of course. You have to gather treasure chests, by matching them. you have to swim past sharks, by….. well you get the point. It’s definitely a match three game. Well now that we’ve established that lets continue.
In this game you gather gold. It’s what makes your tiny island world go round. It’s what makes it pretty. And… Well…. It’s just fun to have a lot of it. You gather your gold in a few different ways. You can match it in the game, your citizens pay you taxes, (and some of them even steal it No good bums) or you get a time bonus at the end of each completed level. You can spend your hard plundered booty on a lot of things, new buildings, for your island, which give you a certain boost in the game. You can buy cannon balls. Or you can just blow it all at your pub
Have you ever been irritated at tricky tiles that just don’t want to match. They hide down at the bottom of the screen, and it seems like every time you almost match them, another tile messes it up. Well thanks to our pirate friends, we will no longer have that problem. we can now just blast that tile away. In This game you can purchase cannon balls to blow out whole sections of the board. And lots of your buildings come with fun stuff as well. The dock comes with a ship, that can blast away a whole row. The blacksmith, allows you to remove a single tile. The pub…. well that’s pretty self explanatory, we’re pirates remember.
The Graphics of this game are stunning, to say the least. the Backgrounds are wonderfully drawn. And the objects on the board are vibrant and stand out. Your pirate island is so detailed, right down to that lazy pirate, drinking all of your rum… Hic…UP…
The music really goes well with the theme of the actual game. And the story FITS. And at some points, although a bit simple, is actually genuinely funny.
So Ahoy matey indeed, Caribbean Getaway gets a 5 out of 5, for it’s great new additions to an already classic game, its wonderful graphics and sound, the way the story actually fits well with the game, and most of all for letting me write this article in their pub… Hic…. Up..
* Thanks to www.bigfishgames.com for the demo. It was genuinely a great play.*
